Over the past couple of years, I was fortunate to work with a team of scientists and natural paint experts to develop a paint that can clean and purify the air once it is applied, it is acting as a filtration system absorbing and purifying 95% of indoor air pollution for years, neutralizing harmful air pollutants such as VOC’s and Carbon Dioxide.
My new paintings are infused with a certified carbon tech patented mineral product, these minerals form where volcanic rocks and ash layers react with alkaline groundwater crystallizing over thousands to millions of years in shallow marine basins.
The largest paintings can use up to an average of over 1 gallon of paint to make the finished work, this results in removing as much CO2 as 1 adult tree removes in an entire year, or the equivalent of 1 football field of surface area absorption and is proven to reduce indoor air pollution by up to 95.1% in just 1 hour. The absorption does not alter the surface color. Lab test results show – Formaldehyde 95.046% reduction EtOH2 73.661% reduction, Acetone 42.562% reduction, CS2 30.833% reduction, and Benzene 37.899% reduction.
The paintings are painted on 100% organic raw cotton canvas. Organic cotton is cotton grown without using synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, or defoliants on land that has been free of these chemicals for at least three years.
With organic cotton the soil is treated with care so that it continues to thrive and to give the cotton everything it naturally needs. The healthy crops that result lead to even healthier soil. When excess water does eventually run off into nearby streams and lakes, it’s not filled with chemicals or synthetic fertilizers. It’s a cycle that keeps getting stronger, and one that nourishes the earth.
The first few layers applied onto the canvas is with eco-friendly and vegan gesso. The non-toxic gesso is a professional and archival quality gesso that is perfect for earth and health-conscious artists, it is made with French marble dust, limestone powder, and plant-based binders, this gesso is superb quality, 100% non-toxic and vegan.
I also use pigments that are harvested sustainably and ethically where no pollution is created from the process and natural binders and additives that are organic and/or plant based.
All my materials are purchased from US plants who follow industry-standard clean production techniques and best practices, and which are as close to the final production line as possible in order to reduce the ecological footprint and expense of long-distance shipping. Owning one of my paintings will reduce your carbon footprint. Our cultural shift towards a more sustainable way of living is no longer a luxury, but a requirement.
